Is it a Good Time to Retire?
A recent article in the Globe & Mail caused me to pause and reflect upon my longer-term plans. Is it a good time to retire? It would appear like many people there is this desire to ease into retirement. A newly defined phase of life that allows you to maintain the identity you associate with work – a place where you have had a purpose and a social life. It would appear that around 70% of us want this “work-easement” phase. Perhaps not a surprise when so many of us have made a career about defining what is important to us. Many of us meet people that cannot wait to retire, but I think Covid’s period of turmoil has allowed us to reflect upon what working is about and what it means beyond money on a day-to-day basis on our life and values.
